Division of Academic Affairs

Welcome from the Provost

Interim Provost Dr. Peter JudgeI am so pleased to come back to Winthrop in this role as the chief academic officer. I spent 22 years as a teacher and administrator in the College of Arts & Sciences and have known so many students, staff, and faculty. I came to know that at Winthrop, people matter. We have an amazing, dedicated staff who do whatever they can day after day to make this place run. We have a highly qualified faculty who pour their lives out for student success. And, of course, we have a diverse group of students who go on to be graduates who make Winthrop proud.

Winthrop University students learn to be critical thinkers, informed citizens, and collaborative problem-solvers. To support this learning, we provide a distinctive general education core that is nationally recognized, a broad array of graduate programs and certificates, and co-curricular experiences that prepare our students to thrive in the communities and career paths of tomorrow.

In all our colleges, every program that is eligible for national accreditation is accredited. We strive to implement high-impact educational practices. As a public, comprehensive university, we partner with numerous entities – from nearby Rock Hill to cities and institutions globally. Our graduates leave Winthrop future-ready, and the communities we serve thrive as much as our students do.
